the LOVE of my life

Michael Witte
Today it's all about my hubby....
Mike and I met in 1999 and fell madly in love and got married in 2001.
He is my best friend and such a wonderful husband.
He was my first love and my first kiss. It makes me feel so blessed that I get to spend the rest of my life with him and give him all the kisses I want. c:
Mike is not only a great husband, he's a wonderful Daddy to Cayden!
A little over two years ago, we had our little boy. From day one, Mike has been there and he's taught Cayden about football and tons of other things that Daddy's teach their kids.
The most important thing about Mike is his love for the Lord. Mike got saved and set free from some awful things and now he is a totally different person. His heart's desire is to know God and to live for Him. He wants to see Heaven on Earth. Mike has always been an inspiration to me in his walk with the Lord. I know he puts a smile on God's face because he puts one on mine all the time. Mike is an amazing man of God and I am blessed to be called his wife!

Balmex

Last night Mike and I put Cayden to bed with no fight. Always nice when he doesn't fight us at bedtime!
Well then an hour later we heard him yell "SEAHAWK". We look at each other in shock because we thought he had been sleeping for the last hour. Since I was going to bed in a few moments I didn't get up right away. Then Cayden yelled for Mike to come there. So Mike got up and went to the bedroom. The above picture is what he found....
Cayden had gotten into the Balmex Diaper Rash Cream. It was all over his face, hair and clothes. He had also gotten it all over his bedding, our bedding, Skyler (his cabbage patch doll), his dresser, his bed and the baby wipes. On top of the cream being EVERYWHERE, he had taken the baby wipes and pulled them all out of the box.
We washed his hair six times and it's still not all the way out. We used baby shampoo and dish soap. So I grabbed the baby wipes that he had all over and scrubbed his head. He wasn't too happy with that. So I explained to him (as nice as I could) that he has no say in what happens to his head at this point. If I had my way, Cayden would be bald right now. I was ready to shave his hair off when the shampoo and soap weren't working. Mike was the "hair hero" and handed me the wipes and said he was going to the store to buy more dish soap.
Needless to say, Cayden was proud of himself... and once again, God gave me an extra dose of GRACE. I think He's trying to teach me how to be a little more patient than I am (each day I'm finding I'm not as patient as I once thought).
Why oh why does my kid have to get into messy things???
I know there has to be other kids that do this too.... It can't just be MINE...

I Wuvs You Mama!

How can you NOT fall in love with a face like this???
Today Cayden had told us that he loves us all day. Almost every hour he will tell us "I wuvs you" and each time it melts my heart. On the phone he's told both my parents and his cousin Josiah that he loves them too. Such a sweet little boy!
It's amazing to me that God would entrust such a precious little boy into my care. Sometimes I feel so unworthy, and in those times I pray for God's grace and fall deeper in love with this amazing little boy who tells me "I wuvs you mama!" while he grabs my face in a hug (and at this moment hits my head with his ball).
I LOVE YOU TOO CAYDEN JAMES!

Seahawks photos

Here are a few photos from when we went to the PreSeason game. We took Mike's dad, my dad and step mom with us. We all had a lot of fun, and the Seahwaks WON that game. I would love to go to another game. We'll have to see....

California Sushi Rolls

Can I just say that I love California Sushi Rolls! When Mike and I lived in North Carolina, we would go to this Asian restaurant in Concord (I can't think of the name) and I would get the sushi rolls all the time.... Thank you Junko for introducing me to sushi....
Well, last night my mom took Cayden and I out for dinner. We went to this new restaurant in the Snohomish Station (Kami Teriyaki). They had California Sushi Rolls! I was so excited. They were so good and now I want them again.
When, oh when can I have some more???

Facts about the 1500's

I got this email the other day, and looked up on the internet and actually found the web page ... (www.worsleyschool.net/socialarts/fifteen/hundreds.html) ... I thought it was very interesting and wanted to share with you! I hope you enjoy.
************************************************
The sixteenth century may have been an exciting time in history, but it certainly wasn't a pleasant place to live for ordinary people. Here's what it MAY have been like to live in the 1500's.
Most people got married in June, because they'd just had their yearly bath in May, and still smelt pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so the bride may have begun carrying bouquets of flowers to disguise their body odor. This is where the custom in today's weddings comes from.
Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of nice clean water. Then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, 'Don't throw the baby out with the bath water'.
Houses had thatched roofs. Thick with straw piled high and no wood underneath. It was a place for animals to get warm. So all the cats, mice, and insects, and other small animals lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying, 'It's raining cats and dogs'.
The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying, 'Dirt Poor'
The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet. She they spread thresh (straw) on the floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they added more thresh until it started to slip outside. Then they would place a piece of wood in the entranceway. Hence the phrase, 'Threshold'
Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show it off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could 'bring home the bacon'. They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and 'chew the fat'.
Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom part. The family got the middle, and guest got the top, or the upper crust. Which was usually soft.
Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. the combination would sometimes knock the person out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait to see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of 'holding a wake'.
